Did you know there are videos that go with the Kaleidoscope Lesson Plans?
In the Kaleidoscope Curricula you will see “Discussion Videos” mentioned in several of the Units.
These Video Interviews are completely optional lesson plans, but so many teachers have found them useful.
I created these Videos (along with Angels Studio) because many schools’ staffs are still culturally homogenous.
Teachers asked me, “How do we present our students with differing points of views?”
“Most of our parents and other community members are just too overworked to come into the school to talk with students,” Teachers told me. “We’ve tried to get other backgrounds and points of view into the classroom, but it’s just not easy.”
To help these teachers, I decided to bring an array of people and backgrounds into the classroom via videotaped interviews. I interviewed over 40 adults and students on various issues of diversity that correspond with the Units in Level One and Level Two of the Kaleidoscope curricula. Teachers have also used the Videos as stand alone lessons.
Besides benefiting from what the interviewees had to say, teachers found that students who didn’t feel comfortable talking about themselves would talk about the people in the videos.
“Some of my quieter students or students in the minority suddenly felt they had an advocate in the room – someone who had been through what they were going through. Then, they spoke up.” Teacher
These Discussion Videos are completely optional, but lots of teachers like to use another form of media besides lecture and power point slides. Here’s a sample of what you’ll receive:
Because you have gotten involved in the Kaleidoscope program, I’d like to offer these downloadable Discussion Videos to you, not at their usual price of $239 but for $149.
